Men’s Work
For over half a decade, Coach Jake has worked with men to help them trust themselves, live authentically and vulnerably, and step into the arena in their personal and professional lives.
The Arena Men’s Group
A joint offering from Nicholaos “Coach Nick” Papadopoulos and Coach Jake, The Arena Men’s Group meets twice a month on Zoom to explore what it means to be a man in The Arena and inspire men to dare greatly in every aspect of their lives.
Each session includes distinctions led and facilitated by Coach Nick and Coach Jake, “hot seat” coaching, and opportunities to connect with other men, share, and get support.
One-on-One Coaching
Coach Jake works one-on-one with committed men who want to disrupt the paradigm they've been experiencing and create new results professionally and personally. Men’s coaching follows a similar process as Executive and Personal Coaching with a larger emphasis on exploring authenticity and vulnerability, what it means to be a man today, and what kind of man you want to be remembered as. He suggests that all one-on-one clients also participate in the Arena Virtual Series.
The Men’s Group:
A Novel
Since 2016, Coach Nick and Coach Jake have been collaborating on a novel about a men’s group to inspire men to trust themselves and live authentically. They are in the midst of completing the final draft and will begin the publication process soon. While based on their own transformational journeys and their years in men’s groups, The Men’s Group is a fictional account that they hope men and women will turn to, to help them navigate their own development journeys.
What is Men’s Work?
Men’s Work is the catch-all phrase used to describe development work men do to grow and learn with each other. Men have a particular way of interacting with one another and many men find it challenging to engage with their male friends in deep, meaningful, and intimate ways. Men’s Work is a place for men to support each other, learn together, and hold each other accountable in before unexperienced ways.
Coach Jake likes to tell a story about going to his college’s deli with his best friend every week. Mostly they’d sit there in silence or talk about the Red Sox, but when one of them knew something was troubling the other (and they always knew) they’d ask, “How’s life?” It was their way of acknowledging that something was wrong without talking about it. Many men do this because they find it too uncomfortable to be vulnerable and be seen by another man - even a best friend. In Men’s Work, a focus is on getting comfortable sharing.
Coach Jake’s work, both in the group setting and one-on-one, focuses on helping men trust themselves to be their authentic, vulnerable selves so they can be more self-expressed, communicate more honestly, and have deeper, more meaningful relationships with the people closest to them. Coach Jake believes that cultivating these qualities also leads to greater results career-wise and financially.
